You Should Go to Birdbox Studio's Youtube Channel

For they are really funny.  Below is their most recent video, entitled 'Wildebeest':

I really enjoy their style. The animation is smooth, the characters are very caricatured, but still appealing, and their comedic timing is just perfect.

Here are two of my other favorites of theirs.

Here's the link to the channel. Check it out.

I Am Big Bird

A few months ago, I had the chance to see a really great documentary, called "Being Elmo," about Kevin Clash, the puppeteer who plays Elmo on Sesame Street.  It's fascinating to see where he came from and what celebrity he's attained with that little red monster puppet.

A similar documentary is being planned now about Carroll Spinney, who has played Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch since Sesame Street's inception.  I just learned about it from Pete Paquette's blog, and it looks great.  Mr. Spinney is 78 years old and still donning that costume every day.  He's also the last original puppeteer to still be with the show.  He's also given the filmakers unfettered access to himself and his private memorabilia and records.

If you are willing, go and check out their Kickstarter campaign.  I just donated.  They're trying to raise $100,000 by the middle of August, and--only two days into it--they are already up to almost $26,000!  Best of luck to all involved--I can't wait to see the finished film!

The Wonders of Disney Animation

This is an incredible montage of all the Disney animated feature films, from Snow White through last year's Winnie the Pooh.  I'm already a sap for this kind of stuff, but watching this gives me chills, partially because there are so many moments that pull me right back into my childhood, when I was obsessed with The Lion King and Aladdin.  Also, some reminders from films I haven't seen in a really, really long time, like The Rescuers Down Under and Oliver and Company.

On another note, I just watched Hercules for the first time in probably ten years.  I forgot how fun it is.
